Hi guys, sorry about the crap pics, here are my WIP Death Riders, the original figures were Napoleonic Wurtembergers, I wanted them to have czapkas (hats) so gave them head swaps with some surplus Polish infantry, the lances without fanions will have paper fanions added, any ideas on how to paint the horses? I want them to look a little creepy and unnatural, as they are hairless bio engineered organisms.
They look good not sure what to suggest about the horse's was thinking a green hue to them but that would make them look diseased perhaps so don't know now :(
ReplyDeleteHi Simon, green, maybe on a traitor legion, I'm thinking a real pale skin colour, pinker on the belly, and whiter on the back and legs, with a hint of blue veins.
ReplyDeleteThe most alien looking creatures often look 90% 'normal' with just a hint of colour that doesn't belong there. They eye registers it as 'wrong' and hey presto you have creepy alien colouring. Green is a good colour to do this with but blues and yellow works well too.
ReplyDeleteLee has a good idea. A sickly yellow would be good. And if you add a few pustules to the horses, you can accent them with a neon type green and red to make them look like they're oozing.
ReplyDeleteThree words. Naked Mole Rat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_Mole_Rat
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input guys, going with the naked mole rat look, cheers commissarmoody.
ReplyDeleteNo problem. Looking forward to seeing them completed.
