Luftwaffe Field division jagers

 Hi guys

I managed to paint 2 sections of Jagers for my Luftwaffe field division project, the project is loosely  based on the 16th Luftwaffe field division, which is a companion project for the 21st Pz Div, they fought side by side in Normandy, and were merged together after the battle, but I also want them to be able to represent any of the various LWFD, by Normandy, due to the very poor performance of these divisions, (which was mainly due to poor training, morale and equipment, they were very weak divisions, for instance their recon battalion was an under strength unit of bicycle troops) control had been handed over to the Heer, and the field blue uniforms were being replaced by field grey, so there was a mix of field blue and field grey items, however I have gone for the more idealistic look of Luftwaffe field blue uniforms to stand them apart from Heer troops. Due to the uniform colour, they relied heavily on camouflaged items and painted their helmets. 

LWFD Artillery battery finished

All but finished this battery, couple of little details I need to finish, and I could do more weathering on the guns, I’ve also completed the Daimler Benz G5 with a base.

Next weeks work bench

 Hi guys 

On the work bench next week, some Hungarian infantry, support, and light artillery, around half of what I have, some Luftwaffe field Division artillery (slowly getting there) and want to finally finish the Hungarian KV-40 artillery tractors, never seem to finish everything I plan, but ill be happy if I get some of it finished.

WIP Sdkfz 11s

 Hi guys

Started work on these 3 Sdkfz 11s, lots more to do on them, originally meant for Hungarian artillery tractors, however I’m designing a Hungarian version in CAD, so these will become artillery tractors for a German unit, also a Daimler Benz G5 heading for a German unit, I also did some work on the front wheels for my Hungarian Sdkfz 11, in the picture the grey wheel on the right is the original, the wheel on the left with yellow and orange areas is my changed wheel. 

Testing out some alternative painting techniques

Trying out an old technique, but a new one for me, at least one I haven’t done since the early 2000s, pretty simple really, just rattle canning the base coat, I’ve had an airbrush for a long time and usually airbrush my base coats, but I felt like trying something new, here I’ve used Tamiya dark yellow, German grey and olive drab, I undercoated black (rattlecan) let dry, then applied the base coat. They turned out OK, and will be a good start for working on. 

I tested a Hungarian car with the olive drab, but wasn’t happy with the colour, so I masked of some camo and over sprayed in dark yellow, hadn’t planned on using this style so didn’t buy a brown for a 3 tone camo, so this guy will stay green/yellow, it turned out OK, so I’ll be grabbing a brown for 3 tone later, it will go to my Luftwaffe troops maybe, I’ll try some different greens for the Hungarian base coat. 

I’ll use this technique maybe every 3rd batch just to change it up a bit.

I was expecting the German grey to be a bit darker, but was pleasantly surprised to see they came out lighter than expected which will be easier for me to work with, I like some variation in shades and tones so will use filters to achieve that.
