1st Gunners Wargaming give away competition

Hi guys

The Gunners Wargaming give away will be held yearly on my birthday, 15 June

I was trying to decide what would be a good prize for a give away, when I thought the best prize is something tailor made for the individual, and something you can't get anywhere else, so my prize will be, I will collaborate with the winner to use my limited skills to create a group of characters/command stand/vehicle's/small unit, for your army, to your specification, using figures/models from my collection, and my conversion/painting skills.
So you choose the scale, period and force and if I have it in my collection I will make something for your collection.
So how big will the group of figures be? upper and low limit will be determined by how much work will be needed for each figure, and how many I have available in my collection.

15mm and 1/72 figs - 8-16ish
28mm figs - 6-12ish
15mm vehicles - 1-3
1/72nd vehicles - 1-2
28mm vehicles - don't ask, I don't have any.
Mixed - or you may want a mix of a vehicle with some crew - 1 vehicle + 4-6 crew.

I don't have a collection that covers all scales and periods, but I do have a big enough collection that I should be able to cater for most needs, some ideas could be -
1) 28mm Characters for Sharpes practice, e.g. Richard Sharpe
2) A group of 15mm Fantasy adventurers or war band
3) A squad of 15mm Space Marines
6) 1 or 2 Mechs
7) A center piece for a WWII unit

So to be eligible to enter you must
1) add a reply to this post with, scale, period, force, and make up of what you would like.
2) Follow my blog publicly.
3) post a link to this post and pimp my blog on your own blog if you have one.

Good Luck.

  1. I'd love to see a near-future, human (with robots?) 15mm starship crew in the vein of Alien and Firefly/Serenity. I'll post a link to this post on my blog and on facebook right away!

  2. Hi Omer Golan - Joel - I have plenty of figures and robots to put a good size starship crew together for you, good luck.

  3. Shiny count me in Blog post posted, already followed your site and for the choice a Saga Unit similar to the one in the pictures would be great! Although I would prefer them unbased as they can than easilier join the rest of the collection.

    Best regards!

  4. Not a problem, can do Normans, Vikings, or Saxons, we will work the details out if you win, good luck.

  6. Hi Danl
A small collection of ADCs in 28mm Scale for FOG-Napoleonics would be cool. Similar to the PERRY 'Hanger's On' for example.
I already follow your blog and I have a link on my blog to yours. I'll advitise your Comp / Give away on my Blog.
To be fair, I'd provide the miniatures.
Failing that, a SAGA Unit would be excellent of any flavour.

    2. Hi Danl
Just to elaborate, for FOG-N you allocate command points to you units using model ADCs. So a typical army requires anything from about 6 ADC fig to 12 ADCs.
These are individual mounted or dismounted figures. You could even use any type of Officer figure to do the job.
      Cheers

  7. Hi Dan, how about some 1944 British Commandos in 1/72 with the green berets? Or a 1/72nd radio truck for my 1944 British? Or perhaps a couple of Humber Armoured cars in 1/72?
As you know, I am a follower of your blog & have it in my blog list.
I will be happy to put a link to your comp on my blog.
    Cheers,
    JS

  9. Hi Dan.

I've been following your blog ever since I saw your 15mm Space Marines on The Miniatures Page, so I can't help but jump at the chance to pick up some of my own. It'd be ridiculously cool to have a squad of Salamanders (perhaps with one of those Thunder Hammers for the sergeant) to pit against my Khurasan Space Demons (which are probably going to be painted up as pseudo-tyranids).

Anyway, you've even motivated me to start up a miniatures oriented blog (it's been on my todo list for quite some time). I've added you to my blogroll and I'll go add a post pointing to this contest immediately.

    Thanks,

    -garrett

    1. BOLO/OGRE - might be doable.
Parked Space ship - would have to think about it, maybe, but it would be totally scratch built.
      Mechs - easy.

  13. Hi Dan. I would also go for the 15mm space ship crew option -preferably painted as though wearing industrial style clothing and overalls. Orange maybe?

  14. Hi!

15mm Sci-fi, A troop/group of rouge traders / space pirates. Since I mostly now days play Blasters & Bulkheads, no real uniformity is directly required, even a mixed up gang might be better.

Regarding public pimping I hope a link in my blogoroll thingy is valid entry: http://workshop.blambi.chebab.com/

  15. I would want 1/72 Infantry for my War in South America, it's a Victorian steampunk sort of setting. It features things like steam tanks and airships. I make mine by mixing ACW figures with some WWI type equipment, but something like Napoleonic figures with WWII stuff might work. A couple of vehicle crews could work as well, or if you really feel like a task you could try and make a steam tank with crew. I'll put up a link for your blog on my blog.

  24. That one was a plaster kit made as a limited run a few years ago the guy who made them
sent you one in resin and one in plaster, I built the resin one stock and decided to have fun with the second by using 40k parts. Here
are some pics of the standard with some 15mm vehicles:

  29. Dan,

This is a really great gesture on your part. Here's hoping you get many, many entries.

As for myself, my new 28mm Norman warband for Saga could do with some inspired leadership from a command stand!

What I would be most interested in is a 15mm sci-fi 'support crew', a group of unarmed but mostly uniformed humans that can be used as the poor lads who need rescuing when the aliens inevitably come to take our bases.

  38. I hope that I'm not too late. I'd be interested in a group of Normans for SAGA but with a twist. They would represent Normans fighting for Robert Guiscard in the conquest of Sicily and Southern Italy.
