  1. These vehicles in the EBR range were designed on the same principle as the German heavy reconnaissance vehicles in the SdKfz 234 8 RAD range. The driving position is equipped with a reverser and the crew has two pilots, one facing the front, the other facing the rear. The one in the opposite direction of travel then served as a radio. The two other members of the crew, the commander and the gunner were in the turret.

The French army ordered the reconnaissance vehicle but did not retain the troop transport. The Panhard-Levassor firm had built a pre-series of three vehicles. As the Portuguese army had purchased the reconnaissance vehicle, the French managed to sell it the three troop transports. One of these vehicles is today at the armored museum in Saumur.

When I was a cadet in Saumur, I served as a guide during one week-end at the museum. I was very surprised to discover that the troop transport was also equipped with a reverser. There was a small steering wheel between the two doors at the rear of the transport compartment.

This vehicle is a real niche. I don't think many wargamers have one.
